Jim Pearman Relected Mercer Island Mayor

Jim Pearman was re-elected by the City Council to serve a 2nd term as Mayor.

For a small city of about 22,000, we manage to have a City Council, a Mayor (elected by the City Council) AND a City Manager.

Pearman swearing in last week. Apparently our bounty of city positions doesn’t include a pro photographer.

The City Mayor is an ordinary council member whose only superpower is to chair Council Meetings. Useful if you like chairing meetings, I guess.

Make that chairing City Council meetings AND posing for cheesy photos.

Interesting aside: the official announcement calls the vote “unanimous” among the City Council members, but the fine Horse’s Ass Blog runs an account of a split, partisan decision.

Anyway, thanks for serving, Jim and the rest of the City Council.
