It’s snowing but I can’t bear to write another blog post on the snow. So let’s look back at 2008. In January I started this blog, having just moved to the Island. It’s been an eventful year on the Island:
- The new Park & Ride opened and promptly ran out of parking.
- Mercer Island finally got a farmers’ market.
- Tent city came and left. Controversy ensued.
- It snowed, many times.
- ’08 was a big election year. And a big caucus year too. We got a new President and a Light Rail.
And the Blue Angels visited again. Not news, but fun.
My husband and I have had a good time getting to know the Island. This blog started as a way to record our impressions. Local blogger Richard Sprague welcomed us warmly. Richard’s now started iMercerIsland.com, an Island-only blog spun off from his personal blog. City Policypeople Bruce Bassett and Rich Conrad were kind enough to respond to my inquiries. Some sharp commenters have joined in.
Here’s to more Mercer Island news, gossip and inconsequentials in ’09!
