I agree with you that the presence of Tent City caught the neighborhood by surprise and out reach to us before decisions were made was non existent. I have no doubt that the process needs to be changed.
Now that Tent City has been with us for two months, I would be interested in your observations. Have you met the people? Have there been problems for the neighbors? Has anyone had a positive experience?

I wonder how many Mercer Islanders saw this
picture in the Mercer Island Reporter lately and were as dismayed as I was. It’s even worse on the ground. Our CBD has been badly developed. JG
